Frequently Asked Questions—KMT Units

Purchase Info

How do I attach the wires to the KMT units?

BE CAREFUL WHEN ATTACHING THE WIRES TO THE KMT 240 UNIT!! We have had to change the connection on the attachments to comply with FDA regulations. You must have the arrow on the wires on “top” matching the mark on the unit. It will slide in easily—if you force the connection, you will break it. For the KMT 22 you just plug in the wires to the unit.

I have a KMT 240 and have done a Eco Matrix Balancing session; can I do another treatment the same day?

Yes, definitely. That is one of the advantages of having a larger machine. You can do lymph drainage, normalization of organs, cells & tissues, meridian balancing, work on vision issues, pain, immune boosting, general wellness, facelifts, body lifts, and much more. There is no reason not to use it as much as you want. But as with anything new, start slowly in the beginning.

Is it important to know which wires are positive and which are negative?

The wires are color-coded. Red and green are negative and black and yellow are positive. We will refer to them from now on as “Christmas tree” colors, (red and green) and “bumblebee” (black and yellow). You do not need to know which one is positive and which one is negative when you are having a treatment. But you don’t want a bumblebee (positive) to touch a Christmas tree (negative) during a treatment.

What do you use the mask for? Does it come with the units?

The mask doesn’t come with the units. It is purchased separately. The mask was originally used for facelifts but can be used interchangeably with the other attachments for other things by changing the settings or changing the placement of the mask. We treat all the vision issues with the face mask. You just change the setting to the vision settings.

How do you insert the wires on the face mask?

There are 4 “bumps/ridges” on the chin area of the mask. You actually have to make a hole and insert the wires into the mask. One side is “Christmas tree”(negative) and one is “bumblebee”(positive).

How do I turn on the microcurrent units?

Press the button on the far right ON/RESET on the larger units. On the KMT 22 press the power button.

How do you turn them off?

The units automatically turn off in 2 minutes if you do not hit the RUN button. If you are in a program receiving a treatment, it will automatically go off when the treatment is complete. You may hit the ON/RESET button in the larger units. If the treatment is not started within 1 1/2 minutes, it will go off automatically.

Can I pause the treatments?

Only on the larger units. Not on the KMT 22. Hit the RUN/PAUSE button on the KMT 240.

How do I know if my unit is running?

Look at the upper right hand corner of the unit where it says Channel 1 and Channel 2. The two red lights need to be changing from top to bottom indicating it is conducting.

In the KMT 240 you will see arrows going across the screen. The arrows should be going completely across to indicate that it is conduction 100%. You can also “hear” that it is conducting by hearing the “sing song” sound if you choose to have the sound on.

What are the numbers on the screen of the KMT 240? I see a #1 then arrows and then 30 and sometimes a #2 etc.?

This number on the right indicates the program that is running. Sometimes there are several programs and you can see which one you are in. If it is “1,” it is the first program; “2,” you are in the second program, etc. The number on the right is the amount of minutes left in that particular program.

I don’t feel anything during the treatment, is that OK?

It is completely normal for people not to feel anything during a treatment. Microcurrent is extremely low amperage that operates below the threshold of pain.

Do you wet the skin or the attachment in order to get proper conduction?

If you wet the skin, it will usually be moist enough to conduct sufficiently for 30 minutes. You may use salt in the water as well for proper conduction. We find it efficient to make a mixture of about 8 oz. of water and add a teaspoon of electrolytes or salt. Then you can use it as needed and not keep mixing it—much less waste. You may also use the “sticky” electrode pads that come with the unit. If you use those pads, you don’t need to wet the skin. It is much easier. You may also use sticky type pads or non-disposable electrode pads that you can get from us or from other companies—they usually are all compatible.

I feel a prickly sensation, why?

The reason usually is that you are not conducting well enough. The skin may be very dry. Wet the skin again and add more electrolytes. Have a drink of water. Also check to see if you are making good contact with the skin.

Can I adjust the sound on the KMT units?

Not on the KMT 22. On the KMT 240 you change the sound by pressing the arrows. Pressing the arrow pointing down makes it softer and pressing the arrow pointing up louder. Changing the volume must be done before you start the program. The sound cannot be changed once the program has begun.

How do I know if I need a new battery?

The KMT 22 will flash all the lights when you turn it on to indicate that you need a new battery. The KMT 240 will automatically tell you. It will also give you advance notice on the screen that will say “REPLACE BATTERY.” It will do this before you actually need to replace it so you won’t stop in the middle of a treatment without notice.

What if I can’t decide what setting to select?

When in doubt, always use the # 4 normalization setting NL on the KMT 240. You can make a test kit for those who do the ART testing to know specifically which setting is best that particular time. If you don’t do that, use the basic “normalization” setting. It is a general setting that will normalize the cells, balance the polarity in the cell, stimulate ATP production etc.—in other words, you will get all the benefits of microcurrent. You cannot ever go wrong using this setting.

What if I don’t place the electrodes or pads on the right spot? Will I still get a treatment?

You must remember that this is not like acupuncture, where if you miss the exact point you may not get a treatment. If you are using the pads, gloves or electrodes, headband or mask, any place between the 2 areas will get the treatment. Just don’t touch them together or it will neutralize the charge. It can’t harm you if you touch them together. The only thing is that you don’t get a treatment at the moment they are touching.

Can I get electrocuted?

It is impossible. Remember there isn’t any plug connected to any outlet.

Can you actually put it in the bathtub?

It is a fabulous treatment in the bath. You immerse the pads NOT THE MACHINE. The whole body gets a treatment. It is used like this for aches, body pain, jet lag, stress, dehydration, prevention of colds and flu. You do not need pads just have the wires dangle in the tub. Add 2/3–1 cup of salt to the bath water. You won’t feel any current during the treatment.

Can you really do psychological clearing?

Yes you can with # 8 on the KMT 240. We suggest that you use one pad in the middle of the forehead and one under the collarbone just to the left (K27). Focus on your issue for 5 minutes at a time and recheck to see where the person is. It often takes a few of these 5-minute mini-sessions. If you are using the ART then you can test to see if the person is done in less of these mini-sessions.

If you wanted to try to pull metals out of the brain, where would you suggest placing the pads?

There is a headband attachment that is used for this or I would suggest placing one on the forehead between the eyes and one under the occiput just below the hairline. I would also suggest placing one under one ear and the other one under the other ear. They can be done at the same time.

Can I balance the meridians?

Yes. The # 15 Energy Body Matrix. Place one pad on the left arch of the foot. Place the other one on the right palm of the hand. These are two major acupuncture points of the body. If you do this program daily for 45-60 minutes, you can “tune-up” all your blockages within the “Qi Field” which is the same as the “energy field.”

Will the Occular Matrix really help with eye problems?

In the book Miracle Eye Cure by Edward C. Kondrot, he specifically writes about microcurrent and even correcting eye problems. By using microcurrent along with a nutritional program, he has successes with Macular degeneration (wet or dry), Diabetic Retinopathy, Vascular Retinal Disease, Retinitis Pigmentosa, Juvenile Macular Degeneration, Inflammatory Retinal Disease, and Drug Toxicity of the Retina. We have incorporated that information into our units.

What do you use the gloves that come with the KMT 240 for? Can I use them for knee pain?

The attachments can all be used interchangeably. Remember when using the gloves, use other gloves under them to shield the current from going into your hands. By doing this you are able to GIVE the treatment. Not wearing the shielding gloves under the conductive gloves, will give your hands a treatment.

Gloves are interchangeable with other attachments. It is not necessary to wear them. In order to address the pain in your knee, there are several different strategies. Place one pad or one glove directly on the pain and the other pad or pads surrounding the area OR one glove or pad can be placed under the knee and one over OR one can be placed above or below OR another choice would be to wear the gloves and do microcurrent massage, lymph drainage, or lengthening or shortening of muscles above and below the area. Remember…when treating pain in the knees, hip or any sinus problem…treat the TMJ!

If I am not using the sticky pads, how do I stabilize the gloves or pads?

Velcro that is purchased in a fabric or craft store works great. You can also use towels rested near the area or fabric to secure them.

In the KMT 240 how do I get to a sub program?

If you want to change the program, scroll down on the program button; and if you want to change the option button, just scroll down on that button.

What are some general placements for pads on the body?

a. A good general treatment is to place one positive pad on the arch of one foot and one negative pad on the other arch of the other foot for lower body general treatment. You could also use two negative pads on each spot and two positive pads on the other.

b. A good upper body treatment is to place pads on the palms of each hand. One positive on one side and one negative on the other palm (you may also use two on each side).

c. You can treat palms and arches at the same time.

d. Place pads directly under the collarbone (K27) on each side. You can use one or two in each position.

e. You can use two pads on the collarbone both positive-(K27) and two negative pads under the ear for the vagus nerve for stimulating the blood flow to the brain.

f. Place two pads under the ears and two in front of the ears getting the ganglia. Have one side of the face positive and one side negative.

g. A good general treatment for the blood is to place pads on both inner wrists. You can do one or two pads on each place (remember always keep the bumblebee and the Christmas trees together). This will also treat all the blood that flows through the points.

h. You can treat the blood also by placing the pads on the upper inside of the ankle. It is good to do the inner wrists and the inner ankles at the same time.

i. When treating a place on the body, remember that the current will flow from the positive to the negative pads. The current will go from top of the body to the bottom as well as going from front to back.

j. One pad on the right palm of the hand and the other on the left arch of the foot will balance the meridians.

Is there a setting that you like for sleeping better?

The pads placed on the feet (arch area)—one on each foot—get great results. Use the #4 normalize low.

Can you do Neural Therapy with the electrodes?

Yes, this microcurrent machine does Neural Therapy without needles.

What is the order for setting for the facelift?

Use “A” for 2 sessions, “B” for 2 sessions, “C” for 2 sessions and “D” for 2 sessions. Then you alternate “C” and “D” for the rest of the sessions and for maintenance.

What setting gives the maximum facelift?

Program “C” give the maximum lift.

Do I get the same results for a facelift with a mask as with probes or gloves?

The best treatment is manual. You can fine-tune the treatment to the individual’s issues when you do it manually. Gloves actually are faster and you can get the scooping up movement that helps shorten the muscles. Many people do use the face mask and are very satisfied with the results.

Which is better to use for the facelifts: Matrix Face #9 or Matrix Turbo # 10?

This varies with what you want to accomplish. When treating yourself, it is so much easier to use the turbo setting, which will automatically go through each program. It takes 25 minutes. The #9 has everything separate. So you could have a client normalize with the mask for 20-30 minutes preparing for a lift and then do the lifting and feathering manually.

What is “feathering?”

Feathering are movements used in a facelift to increase collagen production 47% and elastin production 67%. It is also used during a facelift to drive product into the skin. Feather 1 will drive in product superficially, #2 deeper and #3 the deepest.

The biotips you sent me are not right for the unit you sent me.

The tips that are on the ergonomic probes unscrew and the biotips screw in.

I am confused about when to use the setting in #4 Matrix essentials. Help!

First of all, when you don’t know which setting to use you always choose NL normalization low. The most common choice of settings in the Matrix Essentials is the one that shows up on the screen first. Enhancement would be the “El” and lymph drainage would be the level a. The normalization and enhancement are settings to allow the body’s own natural processes to take place; normalize the polarity of the cell, bring blood to the area and have lymph drain out of the cell, stimulate the ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate: the stored cellular energy that the cell uses to function) production, promote protein synthesis and cellular repair. Absorption of nutrients is increased as well as elimination of waste products. In other words homeostatis is restored. Dr. Cheng states that these functions are increased 5-fold and others believe it increases these functions as much as 25 times. Each setting does this in a little different way.

Can you do neural therapy without needles with these units?

Yes.

What is the advantage of using “micro currents” and specifically your units?

These currents have the ability to penetrate the cell as opposed to going around the cell as other stronger device do. There is a law called the “Arndt-Schultz Law” which states: "Weak stimuli increase physiologic activity and very strong stimuli inhibit or abolish activity.” I think of it as watering a delicate flower with a water hose for your lawn on full blast as opposed to watering it with a little glass of water and letting it go slowly into the soil utilizing the water instead of being bombarded with the high intensity water flow. Our units actually adjust to the skin 1024 times per second to actually insure that the current is delivered to the cell. We have years of research that has gone into selection of the settings.

Does microcurrent increase blood circulation?

Yes.

Will you give a definition of microcurrent?

It is extremely small pulsating currents of electricity finely tuned to the level of the electrical exchanges which take place at the cellular level. We can look at every cell in the body as a mini electrical generator which generates electrical currents. Micro currents work with these currents which allow the body to heal itself, and support and help many different function of the body.

Does it matter if the body is hydrated before the treatment?

Yes, it is better to drink some water before the treatment. Hydrated skin will conduct better so you can also wet the skin. If you are using pads that self-stick, then you would want the skin to air dry or pat it dry. Most people can conduct with the sticky electrode pad and don’t need to wet the skin.

Can I program the KMT units myself?

Not with the KMT 22 but with the other units you can.

What does the “µa” mean when you program yourself?

It is an abbreviation for the microamps which is a measurement of the rate of current of electron flow.

What is the “hz” abbreviation?

Hz is for hertz, which is the number of pulses of electrical current per second.

Does the microcurrent stimulation affect the neurological system?

Yes, the biological processes of the neurological system are affected as well as the endocrine system and musculoskeletal system.

When I am using a manual mode how do I select a wave form?

Electricity travels in waves. The KMT biocomputers have adjustable waves that allow for varied depths of treatment depending on the type of tissue being treated. The gentler the wave form the deeper the penetration. If you want to reach muscles you use a gentle wave form. To stimulate the skin, use a sharp wave form.

How different is the microcurrent from what naturally occurs in our bodies?

Dr. Becker discovered that microcurrent is the same type of current that flows through the human body.

If you are having pain, what are the best settings for controlling it if you want to program the unit yourself?

Usually between 4- 7 hz. There are so many specific settings for pain—it is not necessary though.

What are the best programs for pain?

The pain settings are in the general wellness settings #5 in the large units. Use the option buttons to get to the area of the body that you want treated.

Acupuncturists work distally as well as on the specific area—how does that work in relationship to the microcurrent?

This works with microcurrent as well. You can treat locally or distally. If you treat one side of the body, treat the other side and if you treat the top treat the bottom.

What about using microcurrent with other modalities? For example, as an acupuncturist, to increase energy in an area I would treat toward the middle of the body.

Microcurrent enhances any modality. If you want to concentrate energy in an area you would use the gloves and work as you would do without them. This would improve the circulation and do lymph drainage also. The opposite is true to disperse energy away from the area of complaint. Treat away from the midline of the body. This helps break up congestion and relieve pain. You can also use a circling motion, especially on the extremities to achieve this.

Can I do foot reflexology with the microcurrent gloves?

Yes, we have reports of excellent results with gloves—better than without. Microcurret enhances what ever modality you are already using.

Why do we want to balance the positive and negative polarity in the cell?

Cells with normal polarity do what cells do best: nourish, multiply and regenerate. Excess positive charges in the cell excess is out of balance. Since the human body is made up of electrically charged cells, polarity or the attraction or repulsion of electric current is the key to successful electro-therapy. Positive and negative electrical energy will produce different affects in the body. The ideal ratio should be 65% negative and 35% positive. Balance is the key here. Humans are negatively charged in the extremities and positively charged along the central nervous system. Negative current is antibacterial and excellent for pain control. Positive current has a constrictive effect. If you wanted to decrease inflammation and blood supply, and close pores, you would want positive in your treatment. A positive charge will harden tissues and produce an acid reaction. If you want to sedate a nerve irritation you want positive in your treatment. When you want to close a wound positive is needed. Negative charge will produce an alkaline effect, stimulate nerves, open pores, increase blood supply, soften tissues and start the healing process.

How do I decide which frequency to use?

The units are preprogrammed specifically for all the different treatments and locations. You don’t need to know how the different frequencies work, the settings are preprogrammed but you can program settings yourself if you choose depending on the unit. You can just select the button and hit start —it is very easy.

Does the sound on the larger units have a significance?

Yes, the higher the pitch the higher the frequency that is being conducted.

What is the difference between gentle and deep wave forms?

Electricity like water travels in waves. The biocomputers have varied depths of waves that allow for varied depths of treatment depending on the type of tissue being treated. The gentler the wave form the deeper the penetration. If you want to reach muscles, you use a gentler wave form. If you want to stimulate the skin a sharp wave is used.

I notice that you do a lot of work inside a person’ mouth, why?

We find that many health issues are related to the TMJ being even mildly out of alignment or being a host to a whole world of bugs. We also see that peoples’ pain in their hip, back and knees heal so much faster when we add in the TMJ techniques. It also seems to make a big difference with sinus and metal issues.

Is it true that you can use the KMT units for hours at a time?

Yes, you can do many different treatment in one day. You have many choices. Some people with severe pain use it for long periods. Some of the Eco Matrix Balancing settings are hours long as well.

Can I leave the room when I give someone a treatment?

Depending on the treatment. There is no reason why you can’t set someone up with gloves or pads and leave the room. Sometimes it is preferable to do this to prepare them for hands-on work that you may do later.

Are microcurrent treatments covered by insurance?

Many insurance companies cover treatments. Some plans also let people buy units as well. We have the CPT codes if you need them.

Can you do Segmental or Mesotherapy with the microcurrent?

Yes. There are manuals available that give specifics.

Can you use the probes on trigger points as well?

Yes you can. People use it on acupuncture points or add microcurrent to whatever modality they are already using.

If I sterilize the probes can I treat open sores?

Make sure everything is sterile if you do it. However, you can very successfully treat going around it. You don’t need to touch the area to get results.

What are people charging for microcurrent treatments?

It varies mostly on geographic location. The least expensive being $50 with a wide range of prices with $175 being on the top end. Please contact me for current pricing.

How many sessions on the average do I need for a facelift?

There are recommendations depending on the individual of course. It depends on the age of the person. You might do 18-24 sessions for a facelift, and then maintenance every three to four weeks. For example someone 40-50 would do an initial 12 sessions three times a week for three to four weeks then one week twice a week until you have finished.

If I want to do a facelift on myself everyday to get it done faster is it possible?

Yes. Wait 24 hours between and it is fine. It is actually preferable to do the first three treatments three days in a row.

Does the size of a person determine the effectiveness of microcurrent stimulation?

The size of a person doesn’t make a difference. You do not need to make any adjustments in your treatments.

I can’t do your lymph drainage class; how can I learn lymph drainage?

We have a nice lymph drainage manual available with charts. We also are available to come to you for teaching.

Are you available to do seminars in other locations as well?

Yes we are. Contact us to make arrangements.

I am not a doctor, can I use the KMT units?

Yes, it is quite user friendly.

My patient had back surgery. Even the strongest pain killers are not working. Do you have experience with pain and the KMT units?

Yes, we are seeing amazing results with pain. We have experience with that particular problem and have had the pain go completely away.
